People have varying expectations what to expect when they come over here.
I like to set everyone's expectations low; tell them they'll live in a tent in "austere" conditions, etcetera. That way, if their living and working conditions are better than that, well, they're pleasantly surprised.
So, some of us live in B-huts over here. They're not great and definitely a fire hazard begging to happen, but, they're better than tents by FAR.
When folks go on vacation, sometimes they will leave their room key for folks passing through so they won't have to stay in a tent. It's purely voluntary, but it gives folks a break from tenting it when they're coming in from or going to downrange.
One of the guys had gotten a key of someone who's gone downrange and left his key for use. He came in asking to use a different room because of, yeah, you guessed it. Ants.
It's well known that this room has an ant problem. That's why the owner has a huge stock of RAID in the room. Basically, if they start coming in through the baseboard (which is where they come in), spray 'em. Give it a day or two and rinse and repeat. Easy stuff.
But no. This guy couldn't stay in the room. Instead, he wheedled his way into one of the manager's rooms (the manager is on R&R). I almost didn't give up the key, but I did so very reluctantly.
I revoked the dude's man-card though. It was necessary.

... in spreadsheets, pivot tables, and other incomprehensible stuff.
There's a million different ways to represent data, some more challenging than others. When you couple the streams of data with ephemeral ideas of how a person wants that data represented, well...
Let's just say I have a lot of "back to the drawing board" moments.
It gets frustrating, but I want to make sure I'm turning out the best product that I can - one that's easy to understand and read.
Sigh. My eyes are still half-crossed, I think.

Two months exactly from today and I'll be on my way home.
I'm really happy that time has passed so quickly. I'm so looking forward to getting home, kissing my family, and kicking butt in whatever new job I take.
Sorta in that order... *grin*
And the stars...don't quite align...

My morning workout buddy and I have missed each other for various reasons over the last three days.
But when we DO get together. .. Phew, she is a tough taskmaster.
She is relentless with the crunches and stands there, arms folded, until I complete every one.
I'd call her names, but, I know I need the "motivation". Heh.
Here's my take on the workouts...

Strange stuff

My head feels better today - probably the extended rest and straight-out veggage of yesterday combined with my migraine meds helped.
I had to spend a chunk of the day playing catchup today, though. No big deal. A lot of the pressure is off now that I'm not doing everyone else's job and I have a backfill identified for my job. Yay!!!
I accompany a young, 20-something buddy of mine to a local jeweler fairly frequently. Every so often, he gets a wild hair and buys a tray of gems.
I asked why the buckets-o-gems and he replied that he was tired of playing with stocks and figured he'd try something new.
Heh.
