I cannot believe how many scholarships there are out there.
We may be too late for this year's essay crop, but, Hannah's going to be an essay writing young lady to get some of these things next year.
She's determined to help out in whatever way she can. I completely commend her for that.
Hey, if any of you know a children's book publisher - our children's book about a cow is finally ready.
It only took about ten years or so.
(but who's counting, right?)

There's a guy I work with here - he's always nice, respectful, doesn't curse in front of me, etcetera.
The other day, a piece of paper fell and he reached out to catch it and got a handful of... well, me. He was immediately apologetic and I knew it wasn't intentional, but, here's what COULD have happened.

No Pressure

I've been toying with the idea of extending out here.
There's a lot of reasons for it - job uncertainty, etc.
But at the top of the list is money. Tuition sucks big time. My husband is in school full time, and my daughter will be heading off in the fall.
We're looking at financial aid stuff so we won't be poor, so we'll see how that goes.
The money here is attractive, the conditions... well, I know what the conditions are like, at least. It COULD be worse. But, really, at the end of the day, I just want to be home with my family.
I think that's going to trump everything else.
Recognize this?

I've adapted the line a little for my environment, but here it goes:
"There's no crying in Afghanistan."
I blew that one all to heck and beyond today. It was a horrible day from start to finish, with me crying in my room at the end of it.
I hate crying. But that tuition for Hannah's school is going to be awful, so that means only one thing. I'm going to have to stay over here.
Ack. I don't even want to say it out loud, much less write it. But, I'd do just about anything (legal) for my kids, and that includes staying over here when I really don't want to.
I just hope that my sanity holds up.
Just Dodgy

I've had to repair my hard drive on my HP laptop before. I think it's got some bad sectors. I thought the issue was resolved.
Until this morning. When it would boot, go into the OS and then just... hang. The screen would go black, etc. I didn't have time to really look at it this morning, but, looking at it now, I'm doing a full virus scan. But, I'm REALLY anal about doing the virus scan thing so I don't expect to find anything. An error briefly came up about DNSAPI.dll, so I think I'm back to the bad sectors on the hard drive.
Argh! I'll see what I can do to get it fixed. The bummer is, I'm giving my little Toshiba Netbook to my daughter to take to school with her so I won't have a backup laptop if something goes hinky with my HP.
Bah.
