I sought out my old division at my company to see if they had anything open and they had my old position available.
They offered it to me and I had to think long and hard about it, because I really like the work in Biometrics that I'm doing, but there's nothing promotion-wise for me on that project.
This position isn't a promotion either, but at least it's a stateside job. And, hopefully, they'll see the good work that I do and promote me.
Eventually.
So... yay. I'll be starting home definitely on the 1st of October. I have to take the MilAir stuff through Kuwait, so who knows how long it'll take to get me out of there. Ah, the joys and uncertainties of military travel.

One of my buddies got the PMP study guide so, like good little study buddies, we got together and started looking at the books. Turns out, we really need to look at the requirements for even taking the exam along with gathering all the project data we've done over the last 8 years. 4500 hours is a lot of time to account for. They've revamped the PMP requirements and I think the project hours went from about 2000 all the way up to 4500. That's pretty significant.
I'll have to work on getting my package together and looking at the www.pmi.org</a> site and getting my 35 hours worth of classtime. At this point, the exam is the LEAST of my worries.
On a different note, today was the naming ceremony for my friend's new daughter. I hope her life is blessed in every way.
Ice Ice Baby

Last night was biceps and triceps and tonight was the chest workout.
We got done with our inverted press (50 lbs doing 4 sets: 15, 15, 15, 21) and flat bench press (55 lbs same sets) when I went to put my weights away. My muscles were all quivery from exertion so, when I tried to place the weights on the rack, my hand slipped. My middle finger got caught on the lip of the rack underneath the weight.
I'm so proud of myself. I didn't cry, although it stung like crazy. Heck, even though it swelled up and hurt to bend, I still finished my workout. The raised bench press (45 lbs same sets) and the one - I don't know what it's called but you have two sets of weights and you loop the handles around each of your wrists and kind of punch forward with both arms. Anyway, I only did 10 lbs per arm for that one.
Then I grabbed the 7kg exercise ball and did 4 sets of crunches, 25, 20, 15, and 30 and hopped on the bike for 30 minutes (8.30 miles).
So, anyway, my finger is swollen and I have a bottle of ice/water that I'm using to try to take the swelling down. It's still looking pretty fat.
Quiet

Things were surprisingly quiet at work today. Sundays usually are. Other than the meeting extravaganza, that is.
Interestingly enough, it was quiet even though we're overrun with military folks in our office. They're getting their own office space soon, but, in the meantime, we're stacked deep.
I'm trying to be nice, but, it's difficult. Especially when they reboot my computer so they can use it - never mind that I was working on stuff. Why is my work less important than theirs?
I should be happy we have any equipment at all, a lot of the guys out at remote sites don't even have their own desk, much less their own computers to use. They have to borrow from the military.
Kinda puts it into perspective, huh?
