It was reflex... really!

by blondtwin Email

I was walking back from lunch today with one of my buddies.  We were just chit-chatting and strolling along, in no hurry to get back to our office, when I felt a finger poke into my back and stay there, helping to push me along.

I whipped around, ready to strike whoever was touching me and realized that it was a USMC Colonel that I chat with every now and again.  I dropped my fists and chatted for a minute with the Colonel, before he headed off to his office.

As my buddy and I made our last few steps to our office, I looked at him and said, "You know, I just came THIS close to getting fired today."  He laughed.  Mostly because we both knew it was true.

Yeah, it's fine to joke and horseplay around and all that. But one *does* have to realize that one stands a chance of activating someone's reflexes.

If they do that, they'd better be able to accept and laugh away the consequences. Or they shouldn't do it.

My humble $0.02. :)
