How 'bout a pick-me-up?

My counterpart (whose job I was filling in for @ four months) is always good-natured, funny and sweet.  He runs around singing to people and having fun, all while doing a great job working.

He knows me so well that he doesn't even talk to me when I first get in; he lets me get my coffee and get settled, then he approaches me with the days' issues.  He cheers me up when I'm bummed, listens when I need to vent, etc.  All in all, a great guy to work with/for.

So today he was down in the dumps.  He said he was tired, and maybe so - working 12 or more hours a day seven days a week can be exhausting - but he seemed kinda down to me.  So I started singing to him and trying to do some of the goofy stuff he does to cheer me up.  FINALLY, about 7:30 or so tonight, he finally sang "Baby, It's Cold Outside" with me in a short duet and then he was smiling again.

My day is complete now.  *grin*
