Strange Sights and Twinkies...

The armored bus here is lovingly called the "twinkie". I suppose they do have a point there.  It DOES look like one.  I may be travelling in one of those tomorrow.  Maybe not.  I guess it depends how many of us are going.

Oh, some of the local nationals work in our dining facility.  They make them wear beard nets.  One of the weirder things I've seen since I've been here.

Speaking of weird...My coworker told me about a convoy he was on up by Masar el Sharif (I'm probably horribly misspelling that) where the humvees came to an intersection in the middle of nowhere.  Off to the side, there was a bunkbed with two Afghans sitting on it, looking at the vehicles intently.  He asked what that was all about and the driver shrugged, saying that the Afghan Army pays those guys to watch the intersection.  24 x 7.

Imagine that.
